The Lady Cardinal volleyball team claimed their fourth consecutive district title with a 3-1 win over Marshfield.  

In the first set, neither team was able to seperate by more than four points.  A five point run, served by Savannah Crane,  turned a 14-13 deficit into a 17-13 advantage and forced a Marshfield time out.  A mini rally from the Blue Jays pushed them ahead briefly at 21-20, before the Webb City rolled off four consecutive points to set up set point at 24-21.  After being stopped once, Webb City took the final point and the first set 25-22.

The second set was more of the same, only it was the Blue Jays that was able to garner a five point run in the middle of the match running out to a 18-10 lead. The Cardinals were able to close the gap to only four points once before the Blue Jays evened the match at 1-1 with a 25-22 win.

It was the third set where the Cardinals imposed their will.  At 6-4, they tore off a six point run that forced a Blue Jay timeout midway in the onslaught, jumping out to a 12-4 advantage.  At 15-7, Jaeli Rutledge hammered home consecutive kills causing the Marshfield team to take their second time out.  It didn't help.  With Kirra Long serving, the Cardinals rolled off what turned out to be the final 10 points and claimed set three, 25-7.

Marshield responded in set four, showing off an 8 point run early as they grabbed a 9-4 lead.  Not panicking, the Cardinals slowly reeled in the Blue Jays, catching them at 12 each.  Staying within four points of each other, the Cardinals took a time out with the set tied 23-23.  Earning a side out and set point, it was only fitting that a Jaeli Rutledge kill ended the set 25-23 and the squad stormed the court, district champions once again.

Rutledge led the team on attack with 14 kills and 40 assists.  Jaylee Van Becelaere tallied 10 kills and Mia Lenker was credited with 30 assists.  Kirra Long struck 3 aces on her serve.  Defensively, five different Cardinals were credited with double digit digs; Long (24), Mia Lenker (15), Avery Gardner (12), Van Becelaere (12), and Savannah Crane (11).

Webb City will host a quarterfinal match next Saturday at the Dome.  They will face the winner of Jefferson City and Union in a match that will played on Tuesday.
