JOPLIN, Mo. -- Webb City Lady Cardinals dropped a couple of games Wednesday against COC opponent Joplin and non-conference Carl Junction. The game, which was postponed Tuesday due to weather, was played in Joplin. Webb City dropped a close match to Joplin 5-4. They then fell to a tough Lady Bulldogs team 7-2. The team's overall record falls to 1-5.

Maecy Beverlin beat Joplin's Julia Reyes-Alvarado 8-4. 

Aubrey Peterson lost 8-5 to Joplin's Lyla Fry 8-5.

Lorelai Fisher beat the Eagles' Kylea Thullesen 8-5.

Sadae Reid lost to Joplin's Lily Compton 8-3.

Katelyn Cox lost to Joplin's Elaina Ramos 8-5.

Aranza Gamez lost to the Eagles' Louisa Curchin 8-3.

Doubles

Beverlin & Cox beat Fry & Compton 8-2.

Fisher & Reid beat Reyes-Alvarado & Curchin 8-5.

Peterson & Gamez lost 8-6 to Thullesen & Ramos.

Beverlin lost a back-and-forth battle to CJ's Brooklyn Leggett 8-5.

Peterson lost to Brooke Jasperson 8-2.

Fisher lost to Olivia Bakos 8-2.

Reid lost to Valeria Figueroa 8-5.

Cox lost to Emma Strickland 8-3.

Gamez beat CJ's Hailey Hunter 8-6.

Beverlin & Cox lost to Leggett & Jasperson 8-2.

Fisher & Reid defeated Bakos & Hunter in a tiebreak 9-8 (7-5).

Peterson & Gamez lost to Figueroa & Strickland 8-3.

"We'd love to have that three doubles match back and the couple of 8-5 losses in singles," head coach Stephany Pace said. "I keep saying it, but it remains the truth. We continue to improve as we play. We do need to focus on mental toughness, though, and closing out the close ones. Hopefully, we can take out our frustrations with this loss in Carthage tomorrow."

Webb City travels to Carthage Thursday, September 17th for a COC match, with games beginning at 4:30 PM.

On Friday, they'll travel to Joplin for the Bird-Dog Invitational.
