Lady Cardinals drop nail-biter to Ozark 5-4

OZARK, Mo. -- The Lady Cardinals road matchup against Ozark was nothing short of exciting Thursday. The team fell in a tight contest to the Lady Tigers 5-4. Webb City came out hot in the COC matchup, winning 2 out of 3 varsity doubles matches. The Cardinals couldn't close out the win in singles, only winning 2 of the 6 matches.

Doubles:

2- Fisher/Reid lost 8-5 to Weathers/Toynton.

3- Peterson/Gamez def Street/Tree 8-3.

2- Senior Aubrey Peterson lost 8-5 to Sarahbella Weathers.
3- Junior Lorelai Fisher lost 8-5 to Madison Toynton.
4- Junior Sadae Reid lost 8-3 to Adalyn Gnau.
5- Junior Katelyn Cox def. Finley Street 8-6.
6- Senior Aranza Gamez lost 8-1 to Chyler Tree.

"We were in the driver's seat early and almost got all three doubles matches to start," head coach Stephany Pace said. "Sometimes, though, that's just how the tennis ball bounces. We had two singles wins and two close singles matches, which just weren't quite enough. We learned some valuable lessons tonight about closing out."

On Tuesday, September 16th, the Top 8 head to Joplin for a double dual against Carl Junction and Joplin at JHS.
