WEBB CITY, Mo. -- It was a night to remember on Tuesday for the Lady Cardinal Seniors in their Senior Night match vs. Joplin. Webb City defeated the Lady Eagles 7-0. They wrapped up their regular season with an overall record of 11-6, their highest win total since the 2021-22 season.
The match started slow, with a zero-point stalemate until the 18th minute. Dakota DeGraffenreid found the net on a free penalty kick. 30 seconds later, she scored another goal in the corner of the net to make it a quick 2-nil lead.
Avery Stodghill earned another goal for the Lady Cardinals in the 24th minute with a friendly bounce off the rim to find the net.
The next score didn't come in until the 2nd half. DeGraffenreid earned her hat trick in the 52nd minute with a strike to the center of the net. The senior wasn't finished there either. She scored 2 more goals in the 66th and 74th minutes of regulation. DeGraffenreid finished with 5 total goals on the night.
Avery Allen rounded out the teams scoring frenzy in the 78th minute from an assisted corner kick from Sammy Gallardo. The ball had just passed the frame enough for the referees to call the goal.
Lady Cardinals Soccer holds the top seed in the Class 3 District 6 Tournament. They'll play McDonald County May 18th at 11:00 AM at Drury University. Webb City defeated McDonald County 8-0 back in March.
