Cardinals finish 4th in Southwest Shootout

WEBB CITY, Mo. -- Lady Cardinals Soccer played host to multiple teams Thursday, Friday, and Saturday for their annual Southwest Shootout. Webb City played Joplin, Jefferson City, and Notre Dame (Cape Girardeau).

The team's first matched kicked off Friday morning. They defeated Joplin 8-0. Avery Pogue led the team with 3 goals. Dakota DeGraffenreid and Sammy Gallardo followed with 2 goals. Avery Allen scored 1 goal.

They followed their victory against Joplin with a defensive battle against Jefferson City. Webb City ultimately fell in penalty kicks 3-2. The loss placed them in the 3rd place match against Notre Dame.

The 3rd place match was also a defensive battle, going scoreless in the first half. Notre Dame broke through with an early 2nd half goal. They tallied another score with less than 2 minutes left in regulation.

Notre Dame defeated Webb City 2-0, clinching a 3rd place title. Webb City had a 4th place finish.

Webb City's overall record falls to 7-5. They'll travel to Willard Tuesday, April 28th for a district quarterfinal rematch from last season.
