Senior wrestlers Cody Jolly and Nick Lovejoy both earned 4th place finishes at the MSHSAA wrestling championships on Saturday.
After opening with a victory in the 113 Class 3 bracket, Jolly lost a 6-5 decision in the quarterfinals to Malacai Collins from Warrenton. He then defeated Rockwood Summit's Aaden 8-2, eaned a pin against Sam Seidel from Oak Park and then defeated Dylan Linsenbardt from Helias with a Major decision 18-6. In the 3rd place match, Jolly lost to Collins again 9-4.
Lovejoy opened his 182 class with a victory before falling in the quarterfinals to Warrenton's John Fillipek. He then won his way back with a 7-2 decision over Christopher Shirley from Ladue, a 10-3 decision over Denziel Perkins from Raytown and a 5-2 decision over Akintunde Odunleye from Hazelwood. He then faced Fillipek for the second time and dropped a 4-0 decision.
The duo had earned 27 team points and prior to the finals had the Cardinals in 20th place (out of 49 teams).
