JOPLIN, Mo. -- The Lady Cardinals didn't have a far drive to compete in the Class 3 State Golf Tournament. The team made the short trip to Joplin's Twin Hills. In what Coach Brown described as a "home field advantage" for Sophomore Violet Haut, the course she grew up hitting on proved quite the challenge.

The wind played a huge factor in the tournament, causing a couple of tough shots for Haut and Senior Brooklyn Cartwright. In the end, Cartwright led the 2, tying for 59th place overall. Haut finished in 63rd.

Cartwright finished with 207 strokes, with Haut finishing with 208.

"I cannot say enough about their handling of the stress of golf" head coach Jason Brown said. "Things do not go your way sometimes, and how you respond in the face of that adversity is a skill that transfers to life. Both girls represented themselves and Webb City Golf with class and grace. Brooklyn has been a huge piece of our program and will be missed. Violet will be back in the state tournament next year and ready to compete at a high level."
