It took an extra two periods for the Cardinals to take down the Tigers 62-58.
Webb City looked to be in control of the contest as they scored the first fifteen points of the game and led 15-5 at the end of one. Addie Burns scored nine with Abby Sargent netting the other six. Burns continued her scoring outburst in the second quarter, putting through 10 consecutive Cardinal points. Abby Sargent had buckets on either side of the Burns spree. A free throw from Brecklynn Sargent was the only other Cardinal point as the hosts held a 30-19 halftime advantage.
The double digit lead held up for most of the third quarter before the Tigers started raining three's. Nevada made five of the their next six from long range, the only miss was an attempt at the third quarter buzzer, and took the lead back with just over seven minutes left in the fourth. For the contest, the Tigers finished with 12 made three's.
Nevada eventually moved out to a six point lead as the clock closed in on two minutes remaining. Buckets from Addie Burns, Abby Sargent and Brecklynn Sargent and two Tigers turnovers sent the game into the first extra session.
In the first OT, both teams were only able to net three points each with Webb City holding for the last shot. But an unfortunate turnover in the final 10 seconds gave the Tigers one last chance, with the attempt from in close clanging away, forcing a second four minute period.
The Cardinals scored in the opening minute to take a two point lead. After a Tiger miss, Webb City tried to close it out by slowing down. However, Webb City missed four free throws and committed a turnover of their own allowing the Tigers extra opportunities as they clung to the two point lead. Nevada couldn't capitalize as they missed two shots of their own and committed a turnover. Abby Sargent connected on two free throws with 30 seconds left for the final 62-58 score.
Addie Burns set a new career high with 35 points, second best in girls Dome history. Abby Sargent netted 21 points while grabbing nine rebounds, handing out six assists and coming up with five steals in the contest.
Webb City (9-4) will travel to Carl Junction next Tuesday night.
