Adalyn Maxwell scored a season best 16 points and pulled down 14 rebounds to help lead the Cardinals to a 69-36 win over Joplin.
Early in the game, the Eagles outplayed the home team as they built a 15-10 lead at the end of the first quarter that then swelled to eight points with just more than three minutes left in the half. However, the last three minutes of the half and the first three of the second half was all Webb City. Starting with two free throws each from Abby Sargent and Adalyn Maxwell and finishing with a easy bucket from Jenna Schulz on a feed from Abby Sargent, Webb City outscored the Eagles 22-2 and built a ten point lead at 37-25. They weren't done yet as they then closed the third quarter on an 11-1 run doubling the margin with a 55-30 lead after three periods.
In the the third quarter, the defense limited the Eagles to only seven total points, forcing eight turnovers.
Abby Sargent led the scoring with a 19 point total and dishing out five assists. Adalyn Maxwell was 7-9 shooting from the field to go along with four blocked shots. Addie Burns followed close behind with 15 points. Jenna Schulz and Whitlee Keith each added seven points in the win.
The defense forced the Eagles into 25 turnovers as they also outrebounded them 40-28 on the night.
Webb City will finish in second place in the COC West division with a record of 5-1 as they kept the Eagles winless at the Dome.
Up next, the Cardinals will travel to Willard to face the Tigers in the opening round of the district tournament.
