Barrage of threes and multiple turnovers combine to doom Cardinals

A hot shooing Tiger team and multiple  Cardinals turnovers were a bad combination in a 73-50 loss at Republic.

Republic was four of seven from three point range in the first quarter and built a 21-7 lead in the first five minutes of the game forcing the Cardinals to use their second timeout.  An inspired club went on a 13-4 to cut the Tiger lead to only five at 25-20 as the first quarter ended.

The Tigers then hit three consecutive from behind the arc surrounding an Addie Burns field goal to push the lead back to 12 early in the second quarter.   Webb City, already with eight turn overs in the first quarter was undone by another eight in the second quarter as Republic went to the locker room with a 57-38 lead.

The Cardinals had fell into a hole that was too more to overcome.

Abby Sargent scored 17 points to lead the team before exiting with her fifth foul.  Addie Burns finished with 16.

The Lady Cardinals now 13-7 overall and 0-1 in COC West play will be at home next Tuesday to take on Carthage.
