There are fast starts and then there is what the Lady Cardinals did to the Dragons on Friday night. Webb City overwhelmed Pittsburg, rattling off the first 24 points of the game before the Dragons could cut the cords with a three point shot of their own. Kirra Long scored 12 of her career best 27 in that scoring spree. The Cardinals drained five long range shots in the first quarter that finally came to a close with the Cardinals holding a 26-3 lead. That 23 point margin would only grow throughout the rest of the game.
The Lady Cardinals were 11 of 19 from long range on the night, with Kirra Long shooting 5 of 7 and Abby Sargent hitting 3 of her 4 attempts. The defense forced Pittsburg into 31 turnovers on the night.
Long led the scoring with her 27 points, Abby Sargent added 11 and Addie Burns finished with 10. Sargent was credited with 13 assists on the evening.
Webb City will host Nixa on Monday at home.
