The Lady Cardinals earned the first victory in the new Cardinal Dome on Wednesday night with a 67-62 win over Springfield Catholic.
Desirea Buerge and Lexey Kneib combined for 56 points — 22 in the fourth quarter, as the Cardinals rallied to overcome an eight point deficit in the fourth quarter. Kneib, hitting two, and Buerge opened the fourth quarter with consecutive three point baskets to retake the lead. The game was stayed close throughout the final quarter with Webb City owning a two-point lead in the final minute. Catholic was then called for an intentionalul. Kneib made both free throws to increase the lead to four, and the Cardinals inbounded the ball, were fouled again and added one free throw for a five-point margin.
Buerge poured in 39 points, matching her second highest total of the season. She scored 13 points in the first period, nine in the second and six in the third. She also made four of the Cardinals' nine 3-point goals. Kneib made Webb City's other five treys — three in the fourth quarter — and finished with 17 points.
Webb City will entertain Republic on February 5th in a Central Ozarks Conference battle.
