Girls win over Nevada

WC Lady Cards

In a game where both teams traded punches early, the WC Lady Cardinals finished strong in the end in a 52 to 39 victory over the visiting Nevada Tigers.  The Cardinals led 26-17 at the half and had trouble taking the lid off of the basket.  Finally, the Lady Cardinals found their groove, extending their lead in the mid third quarter to roll on to victory.  Desirea Buerge and Kaitlin Beason led the Cardinals with 14 points each.   Tonights special group that was honored at halftime was the second through sixth grade WC Angels.  The Angels are a youth girls basketball program that was started by Coach Brad Shorter and assisted by Jeremy Scott.  The number one goal of the program is to have fun playing and learning the game of basketball as future lady cardinals.  The Lady Cards next home game will be Friday, January 18th with a 6pm tip off vs Skyline.  This will be a double header with the boys taking on Logan-Rogersville.  Come early as the the 2013 Homecoming Queen will be crowned between the girls' and boys' games.
