But the Cardinals couldn't pull away from the Mountaineers, Webb City coach, Brad Shorter said. "It was a good game,"Shorter said. "Mount Vernon is an outstanding team. We couldn't pull away. They seemed to answer each time they needed a basket. It seemed like they outrebounded us by quite a bit. We didn't seem to be as strong defensively as we're capable."

The Class 5 Cardinals (13-2) received 17 points and 16 rebounds from Kaitlin Jaeger. Hailey Roderique added 19 points and Kyndal Clark had nine.
