Lady Cards record at 5-5 after loss to Kickapoo

The Lady Cardinals saw their record fall to an even .500 at 5-5 with a 5-4 loss at home to Kickapoo.

The Chiefs opened the game with a two run first inning on a homerun.  It might have been worse, but Liz Rhuems gunned down a would be base thief earlier in the inning.

Webb City answered right back.  Rhuems singled to start the inning and one out later Addie Burns joined her on the bases after being hit by a pitch.  Lily Hall drove in the first run with a single to left.  With two outs, Alivia Nieburg gave the Cardinals a 3-2 lead when her shallow fly ball to center dropped in allowing Burns and Hall to score.

In the third inning, Kickapoo took the lead when a two out double plated two.

The score remained 4-3 in favor of the Chiefs until the sixth inning.  The Chiefs got an unearned run in the top of the sixth to grab a 5-3 lead.

Addie Burns hustled a double to start the bottom of the sixth and was sent home on a sharp single past the pitcher off the bat of Lily Hall.  But that was all the scoring the Cardinals could muster as they came up short 5-4.

Lily Hall drove in two runs on the day as she went 2-3 at the plate.  Alivia Nieburg also drove in two.  Rhuems extended her hitting streak to six games and has now reached base in each of the ten ball games this year.

The Lady Cardinals travel to Park Hill for two games on Friday and two more on Saturday.
