The Lady Cardinals came up short on Tuesday afternoon, plating three runs in the bottom of the seventh before leaving the bases loaded, falling to Republic 6-4.
The Tigers took the early lead in the top of the first, before the Cardinals tied it in the bottom of the inning. Mariah Newby and Mareika Turpen opened the inning with consecutive singles. Desirea Buerge walked to load the bases and Ashley Allgood coaxed a walk to force in the run.
After a scoreless second, the Tigers increased their lead to 6-1, scoring at least one run in each inning, except the sixth.
The Cardinals had runners in each inning, except the second, but failed to score until the seventh.
Turpen began the inning with a double and scored on Buerge double. Then with two outs, Addie Darby singled in Buerge. Brittany Thurlo and Katy Crane drew walks to load the bases. Peyton Rogers singled to right driving in Darby before a strikeout ended the game.
Turpen, Darby and Crane each collected two hits to lead the Cardinals.
The Cardinals travel to Nixa on Thursday. Their final home game will be next Monday.
