The Webb City boys tennis team traveled to Pittsburg High School to play in the Fort Scott Invitational. The Cardinals left Pittsburg tourney champs, going 15-1 in bracket play.
In 1 Singles, Jayden Bowker beat Chanute's Kemper Manly 8-4, Pittsburg's Jacob Berger 8-3, Pittsburg fill-in for Fort Scott Jonathan Winzer 8-4, and Nevada's Aston Thanamani 8-4 to take first in that bracket.
In 2 Singles, Gio Paparelli lost in a tiebreak to Chanute's Nathan Guernsey 8-7 (7-5) and beat Pittsburg's Wesley Hayes 8-5, Pittsburg fill-in for Fort Scott DáKobe White 8-0, and Nevada's Mason Neil 8-1 to finish second.
In 1 Doubles, Justice Bonnow/Ryder Stuart beat Chanute's Ayden Cummings/Logan Bilby 8-4, Pittsburg's Jace Lemus/Reid Panek 8-4, Fort Scott's Landon McDaniel/Levi Fairchild 8-5, and Nevada's Woods/Campbell 8-1 to win their bracket.
In 2 Doubles, Oliver Bollin/Anthony Stump beat Chanute's Thor Bogle/Drake Friederich 8-4, Pittsburg's Braedon Carter/Kai Wilson 8-4, Fort Scott's Theodore Bowman/Luis Rivera 8-0, and Nevada's Blackmon/Ast 8-4 to take first in that bracket.
"As we have all season, we fought the wind tonight, but the guys made terrific adjustments and played really nice tennis," head coach Stephany Pace said. "We don't normally get to see the southeast Kansas teams, and it was good to get a look at Nevada since we'll have them at our Bird-Dog Classic in a few weeks. 15-1 on a night is pretty impressive, so we're happy to come home with another Ft Scott tourney championship."
