WARRENSBURG, Mo. -- Cardinals Boys Tennis left the Class 2 District 7 Individual Tournament unable to send a Cardinal to the state tournament.
In doubles, Jayden Bowker & Justice Bonnow finished 3rd. Alex Stanley & Lester Pascua finished 4th.
Bowker & Bonnow took down Hillcrest's Anderson & White 6-0 in both of their matches. They went on to defeat Thomas Jefferson's Mokhtoar & Cole 6-3 and 6-4. The team then fell to top seed Warrensburg's Warner and O. Stabb 6-3 and 6-1.
Stanley & Pascua had an opening round bye. In the 2nd round, they defeated Thomas Jefferson's Snow & Mitchel 6-0 and 6-3. They then fell to Warrensburg's N. Staab and Smarr 6-3 and 6-1.
This set up a 3rd place match between Cardinals. Jayden Bowker & Justice Bonnow defeated Alex Stanley & Lester Pascua 8-5 to finish in 3rd place. Stanley & Pascua finished 4th.
Both Warrensburg teams advanced to the state tournament in doubles.
In singles, Easton McDonald earned a first-round bye. McDonald fell to Willard's Small 6-1 and 6-4 to exit the tournament.
Cameron Stone won 6-1 in both games against Hillcrest's Diaz. Stone then lost 6-1 in both games to Thomas Jefferson's Jack Goodhue.
Goodhue and Warrensburg's Blum advanced to the state tournament for singles.
