Third quarter burst leads Cardinals to 60-49 win

Unable to shake free from the Miami Wardogs, leading by three at the half 23-20, the Cardinals scored the first 10 points of the third quarter to take control and picked up a home victory over Miami.

Four consecutive baskets for the Cardinals, two from Mason Young and one each from Holden Johnson and Jackson Adams followed by two free throws from Young moved the Cardinals out to a 33-20 lead three minutes after the break.

In the fourth quarter, Trae Turner took over.  Scoring 11 of his game high 22 in the final stanza, including two dunks, one on a pass from Holden Johnson and one on a breakaway helped push the Cardinal lead to 58-37 with four minutes left in the game.  Some late buckets from Miami trimmed the final score.

Along with his scoring, Turner also dished out five assists and picked up six steals in the overall effort.  Three other Cardinals scored double figures with Mason Young totaling 13 and 10 each from Hudson Matthiesen and Mason Young.  Matthiesen corralled a team high seven rebounds.

Webb City (11-8) will begin COC West play on Friday when Republic comes to the Dome for homecoming.
