Cardinals fall to ranked Kickapoo, honors Coach Johnson at halftime

The Cardinals stumbled in the first of three home games this week, falling to Kickapoo 63-36.

Playing down tempo, the Cardinals only trailed 8-7 at the end of the first quarter.  The Cardinals only put up two shots in the quarter, making both of them and making 3 of 4 field goals.  In fact, Webb City ended up making their first five shots, but the Chiefs had already fired up 18, making half of their shots and leading 21-13 midway through the second quarter.  With the Cardinals scoreless the rest of the half, Kickapoo grew the lead to 28-13 at half time.  Webb City could not close the gap in the second half.

Hudson Matthiesen led the team in scoring and rebounding with nine points and eight boards.  

At half time, former coach Eric Johnson was recognized after being inducted into the the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame over the weekend with several of his former players and assistant coaches in attendance.

The Cardinals will have a quick turnaround as Miami will visit the Dome on Wednesday.
