Two touchdowns in the first two minutes of the game set the tone early in a 55-0 thrashing of the Willard Tigers. Taking the opening kickoff, the Cardinals zipped down the field in only six plays, covering 62 yards in only 94 seconds to grab the early 7-0 lead, with Mason Williams scoring the first of his three rushing touchdowns. Utilizing a pooch kick on the ensuing kickoff, Mason Young corralled the ball on a short hop down inside the Willard 30 yard line. On the first play, Trae Turner took the end around to the right side and coasted into the endzone. In only nine more seconds, the score had been extended to 13-0.
Willard turned the ball back over on downs to Webb City at midfield. Mason Young, now under center, directed the nine play drive to put the Cardinals up by three scores. The defense got into the scoring spree, forcing the Tigers to punt on the next possession. A bad snap past the punter was covered in the end zone by Dawson McMullen for a score that had the Cardinals leading 27-0 at the end of the first quarter.
The second quarter was just as good for the home team. Talan Haslip raced 64 yards on the first play for a score. A series later it was Mason Williams with his third touchdown run, this time covering 25 yards. The next possession found Drake Claborn rumbling in from 27 yards and the Cardinals were leading 48-0. Willard threatened but a fumble at the one was recovered by Lucas Waggoner as the half came to a close.
The combined band performance and the fireworks at half time lasted just about long as the second half. With the running clock, their were only five total possessions combined. Webb City's Austin Arft found the endzone late in the fourth for the final score.
Being able to get a lot of players into the game, ten different Cardinals carried the ball on the night. Mason Willams (84) and Talan Haslip (81) led the 380 yard rushing attack. In the air, three different quarterbacks completed passes to six different receivers with Holden Johnson catching two for 23 yards.
The final regular season home game of the year, the Cardinals will travel to Carthage next Friday before concluding the regular season at Joplin.
