Cardinals earn 35-7 road win

Webb City took command in the second half as the defeated Neosho 35-7 on Friday night.

The Cardinals scored late in the first quarter when Keaton Burroughs powered in behind a lead block from Calem Nutting.  They extended their lead with a Hunter VanLue touchdown midway through the second quarter, but a missed conversion try left them leading 13-0.

Neosho, utlizing a fake punt and fourth down conversions, went on a 16 play drive using up the remainder of the half, scoring with only 5 seconds left to trim the Cardinal lead 13-7.

The Cardinals were held out of the endzone on their first drive of the second half, turning the ball over to the Wildcats on the two yard line.  The defense held and forced a punt from the Neosho end zone that gave the ball right back to the offense on the Wildcat 31 yard line.  Burroughs scored his second touchdown of the night and a successful two point conversion gave the Cardinals 21-7 lead.

The defense then took over and shut down the Widcats next two drives. Nate Deadmond picked off a Neosho pass on their next series and ran it back 45 yards for a touchdown to extend the lead to 28-7.  They then held the Wildcats on downs on their half of the field early in the fourth quarter.

Taking over on the 41 yard line, Burroughs caught the Wildcat by surprise with half back option pass to Derick Newby down to the seven yard line.  Andrew Greek finished the drive with a one yard sneek to finish the scoring.

Webb City (6-0) will travel to Ozark next Friday night
