Webb City shut out Harrisonville 35-0 on Friday night. They advance to the Class 4 Semi-finals where they will host Kearney.
Keeton Marsh got the Cardinals jump started when he returned the opening kickoff 51 yards down to the Wildcat 38 to set up the offense if great field position. Webb City only needed six plays to find the end zone as Tyson Roderique hit Bradyn Ansley with a touchdown pass for a quick 7-0 lead.
The defense forced Harrisonville to punt and the offense took off again from their own 38. Using a mix of run and pass, the Cardinals used 13 plays to cover the 62 yards and Tyler Davison plunged into the end zone for a 14-0 lead with just over 2 minutes left in the first quarter.
The Cardinals surprised Harrisonville with an onside kick, recovering in Wildcat territory. Unable to move the ball, Webb City was forced to punt, downing the ball at the one yard line. On the first play, Harrisonville fumbled and Connor Badgley fell on it in the end zone for a touchdown as time expired in the first quarter.
Late in the second quarter, a Kolesen Crane ended a Wildcat drive and set up the offense at their own 32 with just over a minute and half left. Helped with a Harrisonville penalty, the Cardinals crossed into Wildcat territory, but three incomplete passes left the Cardinals with fourth and ten with only .6 seconds left from the 32 yard line. Roderique threw a long pass toward the end zone and Kiante Hardin out fought the defensive back for a touchdwown catch with no time remaining in the half. The Cardinals lead 28-0 at halftime.
Webb City scored on their first possession of the second half, another touchdown pass from Roderique to Ansley, for the final scoring in the 35-0 victory.
Webb City will host the Kearney Bulldogs, a 23-20 OT winner over Helias, next Saturday.
