Webb City wins at home

Webb City kept their record unblemished as they defeated the Nixa Eagles on Friday night 47-7.  The Cardinals recorded scores in the running game, passing game, two-minute offesene, defense and special teams.

The Cardinals opened the scoring with a 66 yard touchdown pass as Tyson Roderique found Kiante Hardin behind the Eagle secondary on only their fourth offensive play of the game.

Their next possession featured more of the running game as the Cardinals marched 70 yards in 9 plays to grab a 14-0 lead before the end of the first quarter.  Keaton Burroughs broke off an 11 yard run and after Hardin ran around the right end for 17 yards down to the one yard line, Burroughs capped the drive with the score.

Trent Parra set the offense up inside Eagle territory with an interception.  The offense stalled just inside the tweny yard line, but Cory Duley was good on a 36 yard field goal and 17-0 lead.

Webb City had a final possession in the first half after the defense forced a punt and began on their own 25 yard line with 1:41 left in the half.  Two big pass plays from Roderique to Hardin, the first a 40 yard diving reception and the next a 31 yard catch, out leaping the Nixa defense put the ball on the Eagle four yard line.  Tyler Davison scored on the next play, receving the option pitch at the last possible moment from Roderique, and out running the defense to the left corner of the end zone.

The second half began with a potential mistake turning into success as Hardin had a little trouble in handling the kickoff, but after picking the ball up on the one yard line, went straight up the middle of the field before being tackled 73 yards later deep into Nixa territory.  After the offense picked up a first down, Hardin scored on a 19 yard running play and the Cardinals had a 31-0 lead.

Nate Deadmond provided the defensive scoring, stepping in front of an Eagle pass and returning it 45 yards for the touchdown.

The Cardinals (5-0, 3-0) will travel to Willard on Friday.
