Highlights for Webb City on the field included a stifling defense, 460 rushing yards and a remarkable performance by Kiante Hardin to close out the first half to give the Cardinals a 40-0 lead. Obviously, 17 penalties for 130 yards stood out.
The Webb City defense limited Ozark to six first downs, minus-9 rushing yards and 71 passing on 8-for-20 accuracy with interceptions by Hardin and Cameron Tournear.
Cardinals feasting on the ground included Kyle Baldassarre (135), Tyler Davison (126), Roderique (95) and Trey Parra (67).
Hardin's performance started with an 81-yard punt return at 5:24. The Cardinal defense held to set up a quick 85-yard drive, keyed by Parra's runs, that was capped by Devin Pickett's 16-yard scoring pass to Hardin with only 6.4 seconds remaining. Ozark, a bit unbelievably, went to the air and Hardin returned the theft 65 yards for the TD as time expired.
Pickett, a junior, finished 2-for-2 and hit tight end Joseph Jones for a 24-yard scoring pass in the first quarter.
Baldassarre's 59-yard run had launched the scoring for Webb City.
Parra's 2-yard run was the Cardinals' first score in the second quarter and came after Roderique's run was nullified and the penalties placed the ball at the Tiger 45.
Parra scored from the 1 in the third period for the Cardinals and in the final they received rushing TDs from Logan Cloyd (13 yards) and Dacison (1).
