The Cardinals traveled to Springdale Arkansas to take on the second ranked Class 7 Harber Wildcats and come up just short 42-35.
Webb City, leading by 21 points twice, were outscored in the second half in a battle of big plays.
After forcing the Wildcats to punt on their first possession, Devin Pickett scampered in with the first score of the night midway through the first quarter. The Wildcats answered quickly to tie the score.
Trey Parra scored the next touchdown giving the Cardinals the 14-7 lead. Webb City then used two big plays to open a 28-7 lead.
The first play was turned in by the defense as the Wildcats were closing in on a touchdown. Parra interecepted an underthrown pass two yards deep into the endzone and returned it 102 yards for a score.
Pickett then found wide out Kiante Hardin on a 75 yard touchdown pass on their next possession and Webb City lead 28-14 at the half.
Receiving the second half kickoff, the Cardinals found paydirt again and once again had the Wildcats down by 21 points.
Then the big plays seemed to fall to Wildcats as they used a big play passing game and timely defensive turnovers to roar back in front 42-35.
The Cardinals were forced to punt with about 5 minutes left in the game, but were unable to get the defensive stop they needed and the Wildcats held onto the ball as time expired.
Webb City will entertain the Carthage Tigers next Friday night. Kickoff will be at 7:00
