Cardinals Advance to Quarter Finals

Junior Breckin Williams directed Webb City to three touchdowns as Webb City beat Helias Catholic 35-21 on Monday night in the sectional round of the MSHSAA Class 4 football playoffs. Williams stepped in when quarterback, Scott Roderique went to the sidelines with a sprained ankle and threw for two scores to senior wide receiver Austin Daniel. Webb City rushed for 324 yards and totaled 452 yards to the Crusaders 273 yards. Senior Maddy Johnson had three scores for 148 yards on 17 carries. Williams, with the Cardinals leading 21-7 after three periods hit Daniel in the fourth with a 14 yard scoring pass and Alex Easley added his fourth of five extra points to make it 28-14.  Daniel's reception capped a 62-yard drive. Williams then directed a 10-play, 75-yard scoring drive that was capped by Johnson's 2-yard scoring run.

Junior Jamison Cady had carries of 16, 19 and 6 to set up the score and Daniel had a 17-yard recpetion on third and 16 to keep the drive alive.

Eighth-ranked Helias, which had won eight straight playoff games at Adkins Stadium, finished 7-5. The Cardinals limited senior passer Zach Rockers to 5 out of 20 for 113 yards.

The Cardinals will meet Union, 11-1, at 1:30pm on Saturday in the quarterfinals at Cardinal Stadium.
