The Cardinals welcomed Nixa to town on Friday night and then sent the Eagles home with a 35-14 defeat.
Webb City, after punting on each of their first two possessions, scored on a Maddy Johnson 33 yard touchdown run to complete a 5 play drive. The scoring run came on a fourth and two run as Johnson followed running mate Slade Byford over the right side and then spun off a Nixa defender on his way to the end zone.
Forcing another Eagle punt, the Cardinals took over on their own 34 yard line. Byford broke off a 39 yard run and Maddy followed with his second touchdown run two plays later from 27 yards.
The defense stopped Nixa on fourth down with a sack by Trey Tripp and gave the ball back to the offense on the 44 yard line. The Cardinals scored on their third consecutive possession with a 5 minute drive capped by a 14 yard touchdown pass to tight end Nathan Price and went to the locker room with a 21-0 lead.
Nixa was able to score on the first drive of the second half cutting the lead to 21-6. Webb City answered back with a 75 yard touchdown drive of their own. Maddy started with a 35 yard run and Byford finished it 7 plays later with a 2 yard run.
A methodical 61 yard 13 play drive took 5 and half minutes off the clock in the fourth quarter as the lead was widened to 35-7. This drive featured Phoenix Johnson and Christian Hoffman combining to carry the ball 9 times in a row before Scott Roderique finished with a 8 yard run.
