The Cardinal offense, averaging 12.5 yards per play, was able to strike quickly in defeating Neosho 48-6 on Friday night.
The defense set the tone early forcing a fumble as they sacked the Tiger quarterback on their opening possession and put the Cardinal offense on the field at the Neosho 21 yard line. Christian Hoffman scored 4 plays later from inside the one and Webb City led 7-0 barely 4 minutes into the game.
The defense forced a three and out and after the punt the offense took over on their own 40 yard line. Slade Byford picked up 7 yards on first down and then Scott Roderique found Austin Daniel for a 42 yard pass down to the Neosho six and Slade punched it into the end zone from there. The conversion kick from Alex Easley put the Cardinals in front 14-0.
The Cardinal offense found themselves starting on their own 15 yard line on their next possession, but needed only three plays to cover the 85 yards. Maddy Johnson ran for the first three yards and then Roderique found Daniels on back to back pass plays covering 34 and 48 yards for the score.
Maddy then took the Cardinals next offensive play 64 yards for his first of two touchdowns on the night and Webb City had pushed the score to a 28-0 halftime lead.
Webb City opened the second half scoring just as quickly as Johnson scampered in from 42 yards barely a minute and a half into third quarter. The Cardinal offense was slowed on their second possession of the half as it took 8 plays to cover 86 yards with Phoenix Johnson bursting up the middle for the last 45 yards and a 41-0 lead. Byford capped the scoring on the next possession as he broke a 59 yard touchdown run finishing an 85 yard drive.
The offense finished with 590 total yards while the defense limited the Tigers to 264 yards on offense.
The Cardinals push their record to 4-0 on the year as they return home next week to battle Nixa.
