The Cardinals led from the start in getting an 8-2 win at Carthage. Now at 15-4 overall, they are 2-0 in COC West play.
Karsen Myers and Mason Williams began the game with back to back to singles to left. After both moved up on a double steal, Trevor Lofland lofted a run scoring sac fly to give Webb City a 1-0 lead, a lead they would not relinquish.
Webb City added two in the fourth. Mason Young doubled up against the left field fence, Braden Strickland singled and Barek Hoffman was hit to lead the bases with nobody out. With one out, Dawson McMullen drew a walk to force in Young, then with two gone Mason Williams singled deep in the hole at short to drive in the second.
Three more runs came home in the fifth. Mason Young blasted a home run just inside the left field foul pole with one out. Braden Strickland walked, then stole second. Barek Hoffman drove him home when he drilled a double to left center. After Hoffman stole third, a sac fly off the bat of Konnor Hood allowed him to come home.
Single runs in the sixth and seventh completed the scoring.
Mason Young reached base all four times in game, two walks to go along with the double and home run. Barek Hoffman and Mason Williams also recorded two hits in the 11 hit offensive output. Karsen Myers, Mason Young, Braden Strickland and Barek Hoffman each scored twice, Trevor Lofland drove in two. Karsen Myers stole two bases, with the Cardinals stealing seven overall.
Tate Lewis allowed two runs in his six innings, striking out four in earning the win. Chayse Denton pitched the final inning.
