Cardinals drop 5-3 decision to Kickapoo

The Cardinals dropped a 5-3 decision at home to Kickapoo, snapping a five game winning streak.

Kickapoo got on the board in the top of the first with two runs.  Webb City evened the score with single runs in the first and second.  A two out single from Trevor Lofland plated the first and a a two out single from Karsen Myers in the second accounted for the second.

An unearned run in the fifth for the Chiefs gave them a one run lead at 3-2.  Threatening to blow the game open in the seventh, the Chiefs had scored twice and still had the bases loaded with nobody out, when the Cardinals turned to Chayse Denton who struck out two and got a fly ball out to left to end the inning with a 5-2 score.

In the bottom of the seventh, the Cardinals took advantage of a couple of fielding errors to score a run and have the tying runs in scoring position with two outs.  A fly ball out brought the game to a close.

Karsen Myers, Lake Johnson and Trevor Lofland recorded the only hits on the day.

Tate Lewis suffered the loss, tossing 5.2 innings, scattering seven hits and striking out five.

Webb City (12-4) is scheduled to take on Springdale at home on Friday.
