Cardinals get 10th win, 14-0 over Central

The Cardinals got their 10th win of the season, turning back winless Springfield Central 14-0 in only five innings.  Eight different Cardinals recorded hits and 11 scored runs in the game.

Wasting little time, Webb City scored four runs in the bottom of the first.  Karsen Myers was hit to start the inning with Mason Williams following with a base hit.  Lake Johnson was awarded first base on catchers interference to load the bases.  Trevor Lofland drove in two with a base hit.  After the first out, Braden Strickland reached on an infield single to load the bases again.  A walk to Abel Getz forced in Johnson.  A wild pitch plated Lofland for the final run of the inning.

A single run in the second was manufactured as Mason Williams was hit by a pitch and stole his way around to third.   Going with the pitch, Lake Johnson punched an rbi single to left to drive in the run.

A fielding error and three doubles produced three runs in the bottom of the third.  Entering the game, Bryson Bard reached on a one out error.  Pinch hitter Barek Hoffman doubled to right field, scoring Bard.  Dawson McMullen followed with a double to left center to send Hoffman home.  An out later, Mason Williams hustled a double to center to score McMullen.

Six runs in the fourth pushed the final tally to 14.  Webb City scored them on only three hits, helped along by three walks and two hit batters.  The highlight was a bases clearing triple from Barek Hoffman, who came on it to score as the throw in from the outfield was mishandled.

Colton Rickman earned the win, facing one batter over the minimum through his four innings of work.  After allowing a one out hit in the first, he set down the final 11 hitters he faced.  At one point, he struck out seven consecutive Bulldogs, finishing with eight total.  Brennan Burgess pitched the final frame.
