The Cardinals opened the final week of the regular season with a 6-1 win over Pleasant Hill.
Brody Eggleston scored the first run of the day for Webb City in the fourth inning. A single to left to start the inning found Eggleston at second base after the left fielder didn't come up with the ball cleanly. An out later he stole third. After Braden Strickland received a two out walk, he broke for second causing the Pleasant Hill to balk allowing Eggleston to trot home.
The Roosters temporarily evened the score at one before Webb City put three more on the board in the fifth. A single from Karsen Myers with Mason Young and Eggleston both reaching on infield errors scored one. A two out double from Cohen Epler drove in the final two runs of the frame.
Luke Beverlin drove in the final two runs with a bases loaded single in the sixth.
Landon Fletcher picked up his second win of the season, striking out eight in 6.2 innings. Scattering four hits, he only allowed a single unearned run. Crossing the 100 pitch mark, Austin Miller came in to secure the final out.
Luke Beverlin finished 2-4 with 2 runs batted in. Andrew Young also recorded two hits. Karsen Myers drew three walks and scored twice.
Webb City will entertain Joplin on Tuesday in the final COC contest.
