Cohen Epler, facing only three batters over the minimum, held the Seneca Indians hitless in a complete game win on Saturday.
The only blemish for the right hander was two walks in the second inning and batter reaching on an error in the third as he set the Indians down in order the other five innings. He struck out seven in the 95 pitch performance. He recorded nine ground ball outs, four fly ball outs and one line drive to an infielder as he kept the Indians off balance.
Andrew Young got the Cardinals on the board in the first as he led off the inning with a double to left. Advancing to third on a ground out the Cardinals then loaded the bases as Brock Renfro was hit by a pitch and Mason Young walked. Everyone advanced on a wild pitch with Andrew scoring the first run. Luke Beverlin drove in Renfro with a ground ball and the Cardinals led 2-0 after the first inning.
Three more runs came across in the third. A one out walk to Renfro was followed by both Mason Young and Luke Beverlin getting hit by a pitch. Brody Eggleston drove in the first run with a ground ball. Hudson Byrd drove in the final two with a single to right.
Six different Cardinals recorded a base hit, Byrd drove in two. Brock Renfro scored twice.
The Cardinals will be back at home on Monday.
