Webb City dropped a 3-2 decision at home to the Carthage Tigers on Wednesday afternoon.
With the game tied at 2 in the seventh inning, a throwing error gave the Tigers a base runner with nobody out. A single from the next hitter put runners on the corner. A bounding ball to third bounced too high for a play at the plate and Carthage was able to score the winning run.
The Cardinals scored first with a single run in the third inning. Andrew Young dropped a single into left center field, stole second and came around to score on a Brock Renfro single. After Carthage tied the score in half of the fourth, Webb City took the lead back with an unearned of their own in the bottom of the fifth. Braden Strickland singled, advancing all to the third on an errant pick off attempt and scoring on a wild pitch. Carthage tied the score in the sixth setting up the seventh inning game winner.
Brock Renfro, Cohen Epler and Braden Strickland each recorded two hits. Karsen Myers walked twice. Webb City stranded nine runners in the game.
Landon Fletcher started on the mound, allowing two runs over six innings and striking out four. Braden Strickland, pitching the seventh, was tagged with the loss.
