Cardinals scratch out 6-4 win over Tigers

Webb City, falling behind early, came back to defeat Carthage 6-4 on Thursday afternoon.

The Cardinals scored single runs in the second and third innings to close the gap before taking the lead with a 3 run fifth inning.

Andrew Greek reached on a Tiger error to start the second.  Maquel Harbin and Kolesen Crane each singled with one out to load the bases.  Greek was thrown out trying to score on a wild pitch for the second out, but Harbin scored on the next pitch when it skipped back to the screen.

Greek singled to right in the third inning to score Dake Sanborn.

Sanborn walked and Tyler Davison singled to open the fifth inning.  Calem Nutting drove both of them home with a double down the left field line.  Nutting scored on back to back wild pitches as the Cardinals took a 5-4 lead into the sixth inning.

Derick Newby picked up the win, scattering six outs and strinking out nine.  Josh Moore earned the save with two shut out innings.

Webb City will entertain Pittsburg on Friday.
