Cardinals sink Pirates at home

Webb City pounded out 10 hits in defeating Branson on Tuesday.

Calem Nutting turned in another excellent pitching performance, limiting the Pirates to only two hits on the day and striking out two

The Cardinals took an early 1-0 lead in the second inning as Nutting lead off the inning with a single, stole second and advanced to third on an Andrew Greek ground out.  Channing Mickey singled up the middle to score Nutting.

Nutting delivered again in the fourth inning when he launched a three run homer to right field, scoring Dack Sanborn and Tyler Davison who had both singled to open the inning.

Webb City used four hits, two walks and a hit batter to score five more times in the fifth.  Austin Carter and Sanborn collected back to back singles, followed by a Davison double that plated Carter.  Nutting was intentionally walked to load the bases.  Greek drew a walk and Mickey was hit by a pitch to score two more Cardinals.  A Maquel Harbin single and Koleson Crane ground out finished the scoring.

Nutting reached base three times on the day, scoring each time and driving in three.  Sanborn and Davison each had two hits on the day.

The Cardinals will host Carthage on Thursday and Pittsburg on Friday.
