Tyler Burgess held the Nixa Eagles hitless in the Cardinals 6-0 win at Barnes Field on Tuesday afternoon. The senior left-hander struck out thirteen and only allowed five eagles to reach base, issuing three walks and hitting two.
The Cardinal offense scored a single run in the second inning as Gage Belcher drew a walk and then scored as Klay James reached on an error by the Eagle shortstop.
James led off the fourth inning with a single to right, and after a strikeout, Richie Peoples lined a single to left on a hit and run that left runners on the corners. Scott Roderique drove in James with a single to center. Peoples scored as Roderique stole second base and after Breckin Williams drew a walk, Burgess drove in two with a double to right center. Nathan Ervin followed with a run scoring double to left and the Cardinals found themselves leading 6-0 after the inning.
Webb City will travel to Ozark on Thursday before hosting Seneca on Friday afternoon and Joplin on Saturday.
