A game that started on Saturday, was finished this afternoon with the Cardinals claiming a 12-1 victory over Logan-Rogersville.
Senior righthander Tyler Burgess pitched the complete game 3 hitter, striking out 10 and only allowing one walk.
The Cardinals opened the scoring in the bottom of the first scoring three runs on three hits. Burgess drove in the first run with a single to right and after Gage Belcher was hit by a pitch, Nathan Ervin delivered a run scoring single of his own. Klay James drove in the final run of the inning with a double to left.
Logan-Rogersville was able to score their only run on a one-out solo home run in the top of the second. The rain, which had begun just before game time, picked up and the game was suspended in the bottom of the second inning.
When the game resumed on Wednesday afternoon, the Cardinals put 4 runs on the board in the third on three hits and the help of four errors. Ervin led off the inning with a walk and Derek Mann sacrificed him to second. James then singled to center, scoring Ervin and continued onto second base as the center fielder had trouble securing the ball. Carson Powell then reached another L-R error that also allowed James to score and Richie Peoples followed with a sacrifice fly to score the third run of the inning. Burgess drove in the final run of the inning with a single to right.
Webb City put the game away in the bottom of the fourth, scoring five more runs on only three hits. The big hit of the inning came from Scott Roderique as he doubled to right center to drive in two runs.
Breckin Williams and James each had three hits to lead the Cardinals. Roderique scored three times whild Burgess and James each drove in three runs.
During the rain delay, the Cardinals were able to pick up two other road wins, defeating Branson 7-3 on Monday before trouncing Republic 23-2 on Tuesday. They travel to Lebanon on Thursday for the final game of the Branson/Republic lead off tournament.
